15th M&A International Lawyers Conference
From September 18 to 20, 2026, we had the pleasure of hosting the 15th M&A International Lawyers Conference by RWP Consult GmbH in Düsseldorf.
Around 70 lawyers from across the world accepted our invitation, including participants from Brazil, the United States and numerous European countries. Over the course of three days, the conference focused on current developments in the M&A sector, engaging presentations and, above all, the opportunity for personal and international exchange.
Friday
The conference kicked off on Friday with a presentation by Mr. Rafal Siemieniec (MFW Fialek, Poland) entitled “Capital Across Borders – Navigating Investment in Poland”.
This was followed by Dr. Christian Temmel (KWR Karasek Wietrzyk Rechtsanwälte GmbH, Austria), who provided interesting insights into “The Development of the EU ESG Reporting Regime”.
After a short coffee and cake break, Mr. Duncan Kay (Boyes Turner LLP, United Kingdom) shared valuable insights into “Recent Negotiation Deal Trends in the UK”.
The first day of the conference concluded with a presentation by our partner Dr. Andreas Lachmann on “Distressed M&A: Risks and Opportunities”.
Following this engaging day, we rounded off the evening with a reception featuring culinary delights and musical accompaniment by a string duo.
Saturday
Saturday began with an engaging panel discussion on “Navigating Venture and Growth Capital-Backed M&A Transactions”, which was moderated by Ms. Nadine Kley and gave Mr. Howard Watt (Fladgate, United Kingdom), Mr. Grzegorz Pobozniak (kkg legal, Poland) and Ms. Carly Gulliver (Addleshaw Goddard LLP, United Kingdom) the opportunity to discuss current issues and developments in this area.
Following the panel discussion, Mr. Josep Enrich (Bartolome & Briones, Spain) provided an overview of “Middle Market M&A: Hot Topics and Recent Trends”.
At lunchtime, a flying buffet provided an opportunity to continue the conversations in a relaxed atmosphere and exchange ideas with colleagues from around the world.
After lunch, Ms. Nuria Garcia Puigpelat (AVQ Legal SLP, Spain) presented on “Investment and Shareholders Agreements pursuant to Spanish Law”, offering valuable insights into Spanish legal practice.
The conference programme concluded with a joint presentation by Mr. Philippe Billiet (Billiet & Co., Belgium) and Mr. Louis Van Oostenryck (FLINN Law, Belgium) entitled “Is There a Strong Negotiator in the Room? About Tactics and Psychological Aspects of Negotiation”. Their interactive and entertaining presentation captivated the participants and provided a memorable conclusion to the professional programme.
In the evening, the conference came to an end with a dinner at Schlosshotel Hugenpoet. Over good food and drinks, and with plenty of engaging conversations, there was another opportunity to connect personally and reflect on two eventful conference days.
Sunday: Düsseldorf to Round Things Off
For those participants whose travel plans allowed them to stay until Sunday, the conference concluded with a guided walking tour through Düsseldorf’s historic Old Town. Over coffee and cake at Café “Laterne im Schlossturm”, the conference came to a relaxed and enjoyable close.
We would like to thank all participants for their valuable contributions, open exchange and the many interesting and personal conversations. The international diversity and the wide range of perspectives once again made this year’s M&A Conference a truly special event.
The M&A Conference, hosted by RWP Consult GmbH, has by now become a well-established tradition at RWP, and we are already looking forward to continuing it next year.
The next M&A Conference will take place in Prague in 2027 – we are looking forward to seeing you there!
B2Run Düsseldorf 2025 – We Were There!
On 20 May 2025, RWP proudly took part in this year’s B2Run in Düsseldorf with a highly motivated running team – a fantastic team effort that we tackled with energy and enthusiasm.
Even more enjoyable than our results was the evening we shared with colleagues and friends of the firm.
With perfect weather and a great atmosphere, we ended the day on a high note.
A heartfelt thank you to all runners, supporters, and everyone who cheered us on – we’re already looking forward to next year!
RWP at the Berlin Dispute Resolution Days 2024
In September 2024, the Berlin Dispute Resolution Days took place again. For RWP, Laura Castillo Mego, LL.M. and our partner Johannes Pitsch participated as speakers at two of the events.
Johannes Pitsch gave a speech during the German-Spanish Arbitration Conference “A comparative look at the arbitration practice in Spain, Germany and Latin America” at the Spanish Embassy in Berlin. He highlighted Madrid as an excellent seat for arbitration proceedings pointing out that Madrid, inter alia, must be considered as an excellent bridge between Germany and Latin America.
Furthermore, Laura Castillo delivered a speech on ESG contract clauses and their relevance in international arbitration at the Humboldt University of Berlin. As it is well known, ESG obligations (Environmental, Social and Governance) have gained significant importance recently, especially within international supply chains. Potential infringements of ESG obligations are likely to trigger disputes between the involved parties.

RWP participates in arbitration congress in Madrid
From 09.06.2024 to 11.06.2024, the XVIII International Congress of the Spanish and Iberoamerican Arbitration Club took place in Madrid. Approximately 600 participants from 27 different countries attended, engaging in outstanding presentations and fostering extensive networking among colleagues within the arbitration community.
On this special ocassion, Laura Castillo and our Partner Johannes Pitsch took part on behalf of the RWP Rechtsanwälte team. Since May 2024, Laura Castillo has been supporting our Spanish Desk, led by Johannes Pitsch.

RWP Partner speaks at the anniversary congress of the German-Spanish Lawyers’ Association (DSJV)
From May 30 to June 1, 2024, the annual congress of the German-Spanish Lawyers’ Association (DSJV) took place in Schwäbisch Gmünd. Around 120 participants, mainly from Spain and Germany, had the opportunity to exchange ideas and, at the same time, celebrate the 40th anniversary of their association.
Our partner, Johannes Pitsch, delivered a presentation at the congress alongside the Madrid notary Alejandro Ruiz-Ayucar Seifert on the subject of “Company formation with cross-border aspects”.
Johannes Pitsch offers an interesting insight: “Working jointly with foreign colleagues provides us with new food for thought for our daily work in international cases. Our clients benefit from this. I was also pleased that our presentation, which was moderated by Dr. Kathrin Monen (Taylor Wessing, Düsseldorf), led to a lively discussion on captivating issues.”

RWP partner as a guest on the radio at “COSMO en español”
On 11 February 2024, our partner Johannes Pitsch was invited to COSMO, the international radio program of WDR. Together with Elena Sotres, a Spanish lawyer in Berlin, he gave tips for Spanish-speaking entrepreneurs in Germany in a 30-minute interview.

New Year’s reception 2024
On Monday, we hosted our traditional New Year’s reception together with Destination Düsseldorf. We welcomed the Minister for Europe and Head of the NRW State Chancellery Nathanael Liminski to an interesting round table discussion on the topic of “Quo Vadis, #Europe?”. A big thank you to all visitors – it was a very successful event!
New entry
In May, we welcome attorney Max K. Hasenclever, LL.M. as a new partner. He advises on corporate, insolvency and employment law. Previously, Mr. Hasenclever was a partner at the Düsseldorf law firm Kluth since 2008. We warmly welcome him.
